Luggage Carts - How Do You Decide What You Need?
When looking for a luggage cart to buy, there are some things
to think about first. You need to decide on average, how much luggage you will
want to carry on a cart. Also, try and guesstimate or even actually weigh your
luggage before purchase as carts have different weight capacities.
Also look at the features they offer. If you’ll be carrying
large luggage on your cart, you’ll want a wide platform base, and if you will
carry smaller or softside luggage pieces on top, make sure the cart has wires to
secure that luggage. Another feature I’ve found useful is a stair glide. It’s
an extra metal tube that helps you maneuver curbs and stairs. I would look for
big wheels and check if you can carry the cart on the airplane; many larger
capacity carts must be checked. I like a collapsible luggage cart or folding
luggage carts as they are usually small enough.
When it comes to capacity, I’ve seen from 80 to 300 lbs. I
personally have a 200 lb. luggage cart – it’s not the smallest luggage cart, but
it suits my needs. Unless you’ll be doing some serious traveling with many
people for a long period and many suitcases, you can probably get away with a
smaller cart. Obviously, smaller equals cheaper, as well as it’s going to be a
more lightweight luggage cart. Whichever luggage cart you choose, the merchants
listed at the bottom of the accessories page can
help, and at very reasonable prices.
